Born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jahdan Blakkamoore has long made a name for himself as a gifted and inspiring Reggae/Dancehall/Hip Hop/Dubstep artist – both nationally and internationally. His music has been described as “Urban World Music with a message.” Jahdan’s sense of melody, superb song writing skills and ability to effortlessly cross over genres has solidified his status as a relevant artist in the music industry. Hip-hop heads might know him from his feature with Smif-N-Wessun on the classic “Sound Boy Buriell” or his collaborations with DJ Premier, AfuRa and Dead Prez. Reggae and Roots fans might know him as a member of the group Noble Society or for his standout song “Cash Flow” on the Major Lazer project from Diplo and Switch. His song “Struggla” was also featured on Matisyahu’s album ‘Light,’ and he’s collaborated with various artists such as Lutan Fyah, Kabaka Pyramid, and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, to name a few. Jahdan was a contributing writer on Snoop Lion’s album, ‘Reincarnated’ which received a Grammy nominated for Best Reggae Album of 2013; he’s featured on “Boulevard”, “Harder Times”, and lends his vocals to “Lighters Up” with Mavado and Popcaan.
He still remains focused on completing songs for his own forthcoming solo album ‘Order Of Distinction’ a follow up to his sophomore solo project ‘Babylon Nightmare’ on the Lustre Kings label. The first single “Ting Tun Up! features Lady Leshurr from the UK and Melodic Yoza from Toronto. The new album is set for release February 2015. Jahdan is also featured on Smif-N-Wessun’s EP ‘Born and Raised’ alongside Reggae veterans Junior Reid and Junior Kelly. True Hip Hop Reggae supporters have been awaiting new music from Jahdan and the Boot Camp Family since their classic collaboration. Blakkamoore’s songs are featured on mixtapes and albums across various genres. “All Comes Back to One (Bobo’s Remix)” is on Snoop Lion’s mixtape ‘Ashtrays and Heartbreaks’ mixed by Federation Sounds, Max Glazer. “Life is Greater” can be heard on the ‘Rough Road Riddim’ from Green Lion Crew and “Best in Life” stands out on the ‘Song Bird Riddim’ from I Grade Records. “Write My Wrongs,” a feature with Freeway and The Jacka is the title track to the mix tape from Project Groundation mixed by DJ Child.
Acclaimed as ‘kings of urban reggae,’ his group Noble Society is a collective of international musicians combining various styles of music. Their last studio album, ‘PPM – Powerful Painful Music’, is a mix of Hip-Hop and Dancehall with Dub-step beats and Flamenco melodies. The album was followed by a successful European tour with Biga Ranx. A fan favorite on the album, “Living the Life” was remixed by dub and base veterans Sub Atomic Sound System and a dub-step version of the full album was also remixed by UK based Rolaz Audio Productions.
Fans can hear a collection of new songs from his current mixtape ‘Blakkamoore Chronicles Vol. 1: Ready We Gone’ mixed by Relic Secure from Secure Dem Sound. His Blakkamoore Chronicles Tour began in Miami, FL at the 21st annual 9 Mile Music Festival and made stops in Oregon, Denver and California. Jahdan also made his long awaited return to the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival stage and kicked off the 30th Annual Reggae on the River Festival with the Blessed Coast Crew. Special guest appearances and dates in Europe are currently being scheduled for 2015.
