Guyanese born, Brooklyn bred, 5-Star General, Jahdan Blakkamoore, is about to set the pace in 2015 with the forthcoming Order of Distinction. This Grammy-nominated songwriter and international reggae artist delivers on his third studio album. Jahdan reveals a focused and mature singer, deejay and wordsmith, breezing through excellent production while consistently writing solid songs with ease and confidence. He employs a magnificent roster of contemporaries as well, including: Lutan Fyah, Pressure Busspipe and Kabaka Pyramid, to name a few. Taking us on a journey through high-energy ragga-hip-hop scorchers like “Ting Tun Up!” To sexy lovers rock grooves on “Smooth Black Skin” all the while staying inspired by spiritually charged tracks like “Come Back Around”. The diversity in production quality, musicianship, insightful messages and versatility are only enhanced through Jahdan’s artistic approach, track to track.
Set for release in March 2015, Order of Distinction is a long awaited follow-up to his 2010 release, modern roots classic, Babylon Nightmare on Lustre Kings Productions. “Distinction” features mainly production by Zion I Kings and Paper Stars. Paper Stars is the production and writing duo forged between Jahdan Blakkamoore and Andrew “Moon” Bain (Lustre Kings) after years of prolific practice in the studio and receiving a Grammy nod in 2013 for Major’s Lazer’s & Snoop Dogg’s, Snoop Lion Reincarnated. Zion I Kings, the prolific modern roots
reggae production team formed by “JAH” David Goldfine (Zion High Productions), Laurent “Tippy Alfred (I Grade Records) and Andrew “Moon” Bain (Lustre Kings), masterfully executed the remainder of the project (ZIK just received iTunes album of the year, 2014, for Midnite Beauty for Ashes). Additional “icing on the cake” is added by dancehall titan, Dre Skull (Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, MIXPAK records) on “Sky’s the Limit” and NYC based electronic producer Nate Mars on “Faith”. To top it off, the album was mastered by multi-Grammy award winning
engineer, Mike Fuller.
For almost two decades, Lustre Kings Productions has become synonymous with modern roots reggae music and fostering burgeoning talent. The independent label has carved a name out for itself grounded in positive dancehall and reggae music. Jahdan Blakkamoore’s Order of Distinction delivers on all points, once again pushing the envelope of the genre, introducing fresh faces amongst familiar ones while remaining rooted in a foundation of innovative musicianship and forward thinking production that resounds with positive and evocative messages.
